Learn something new every day

Not that I didn't already know this, but for some reason, it didn't hit me like a ton of damn bricks, until I read it online tonight-

Hey! Guess what??? Did you know that if you have the shingles, you can pass them on to people who have never had the chicken pox??? Like, say, your 3 year old? The 3 year old who was being oh-so sweet and kissing your shingles the other day. Oh, or your friend's 3 year old. Oh, or how about all the 3 year olds at the birthday party you attended on Saturday, where you spent the better part of 2 hours trying not to itch and cry at the same time? Ooooo...how about all the kids at your 3 year old's daycare?

Holy shit, what have I done???

It's ok, it's better for them to get it now, rather than much later in life. And some of them may have been vaccinated against it already. Although, my daughter was vaccinated and got it anyway, near the end of the life span of the vaccine. So when they say that vaccine is good for ten years? Not so much. Her case was very minor though, she mostly only got spots on her legs, and they only lasted a couple days.

You did not knowingly go to infect the kids. I agree with Heather that most of the kids are vaccinated.

Take care of your self...I hear they are painful.

Heather is correct. Better while they are young! Itchy...

Well, I'm not one to point...but...."TYPHOID MARY! TYPHOID MARY!"...lol. Just think of it as payback for all the snotty colds they'll give you over the years.

I wouldn't be mad if I was one of those moms; I'd be grateful that they got them young.

Having said that, I think Gray is vaccinated and so maybe some of the other kids are too.

I also think that the vaccine doesn't PREVENT the pox, just gives a milder form. So I'm all for THAT. Can we come over and play with you too?

Don't you immunize for the chicken pox? I know my kids have had the shots....
