Quick advice and a small question

Two quick things while my eyelids droop miserably after staying up late to study for a test Tuesday night, and then staying up late to work on a project Wednesday night:

1. I have some imported lace from Italy that my grandmother ordered prior to her death (almost 11 years ago). I want to do something meaningful with it, yet it is sitting in a bag in my closet. Any ideas? There isn't enough for curtains or a tablecloth.

2. I see that Dooce is on a book tour. Does anyone know when she will be in Austin, Texas? Better yet, anyone know if she is going to come to Dallas? I can't seem to find anything on her blog about dates and places, other than her list of places she is this week. Grrrrr. Help!

That's it for now. Sleepy, beat down, and sore from The Shred.

That is beautiful. It looks like it would make a gorgeous heirloom christening gown, depending on your religion, if any. And of course, if you or anyone in your family are or will be in need of one at any time. That's really my only idea. I don't sew, so I don't have a good eye for that kind of thing.

Dooce is signing books at BOOKPEOPLE, 603 North Lamar, in Austin 78703 on Wednesday, April 8th. She didn't post a starting time for this city, but all of the others start at 7:00 or 7:30. I don't see a Dallas stop on her schedule. Even though I'll be alone, I'm definitely heading there!

That lace is beautiful - I think of weddings hwen I look at it - I know my mom often gives new mothers a Christening bonnet that can be turned into a handkerchief for a wedding day...but you definitely need to use it for something that can be handed down for genrations.

Maybe not curtains, but a valance? Throw pillows or pillow cases? Use it as a lining for a small lap quilt? Wall hanging?

Gorgeous lace! I love Fiona's idea of the christening gown. Maybe save it and do something "old" for G to carry down the aisle at her wedding?

Save it for when the little one gets married to have a dress made for her or if she does communion it could be made into a communion dress. It's absolutely lovely lace. I am jealous!

Maybe you can save it for your daughter's veil when she gets married.

If you come to Austin this week to see Dooce, let me know!
