Pay It Forward Contest

Since Hurricane Gustav has foiled my New Orleans plans, I'm off to good ole' Austin. 6th street, Cedar St. Bar, Lake Travis, food, food, food, food! Hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday weekend!!!!

**********************************

Since I won Fiona Picklebottom's PiF contest, it is now time for me to host my PiF II. Leave me a comment between now and Monday at 11pm (Central time), and the lovely random number generator will pick a winner soon after. I will probably announce on Tuesday.

So, here's what I want to know (wait for it.....):

Did you hear about this story? Someone won the lottery, and put the winning ticket in the offering plate at their church. The church will be getting at least $100,000 a year through 2028!! How cool is that??
So, this is what I want to know--If you were to win the lottery, what nice, unselfish, giving thing would you do with the money?

I'm thinking my family would be getting a nice check in the mail (all 7 members) and I would probably donate a nice sum to local charities (firemen, animal shelters, etc). Then, it's all going into an IRA for my children and their scholastic career.

Is that good enough?

i would donate a bunch to the school i work in...we've a ton of families in poverty who need basic necesseties. i think i'd set up a fund that would continue to grow, something like that.

Sorry that Gustav ruined your fun, but I'm sure the Bat Fest will more than make up for missing crawfish and Bourbon Street.

I saw that church/lottery story on Good Morning, America. My favorite part was when they asked the pastor if he'd donate all his winnings if he'd won he said "NO!".

I think if I won, I'd either take my immediate family on a cruise or a house for my crazy in-laws. (only so they'll never live with us!)

i would totally make sure my precious grandmother never had to worry about money for the rest of her life. and not just like living expenses, i'm talking go to australia for a week once a month if she wanted. she's done so much for me in my life, how could i not do the same for her?

I would set up a scholarship foundation to award college scholarships to local students. Oh, and I would name it after ME!

am i too late? i think you said this will go on until friday, but i forget. anyway, even if i'm not too late, i would first take care of my family members...but i would probaly make some sort of donation to some animal shelters, and I'd move my sister back to NY from alabama. and I would make donations to our church too.

I would pay off my parents' mortgage and perhaps help my siblings a little, too!
